Mission Trip to Ecuador!

Wow, we haven't used this blog in a very long time... but if you are checking it now then it is probably to check out the information about Ecuador!

This spring Glacier View Youth has a chance to go join one of our church's missionaries in Quito, Ecuador.  We have limited space on our trip, so only 8 junior and senior high school students are coming and 5 adults.  Some of our youth and leaders have been before, but for Aaron and I this will be our first trip.

While we are down there we will be working in the mountains.  The details are still coming together as to what exactly we will be doing, but Nancy and Cesar Cortez (the missionaries we are working with) often work in remote places bringing fresh water to the locals.  They often build wells or dig water lines, so I am guess we will be doing some of that in the morning and leading a VBS for the local children during the evening.

A trip like this won't be easy however!  Many of you have received letters from a student that you know going on this trip, the cost per person to go on this trip is $2000...  We are looking at about $1500 for airfare per person and $50 a day once we are down there to cover our expenses.  Multiplied by 13 people is a lot of money to raise before March!  But our God is awesome and we know that He has that part in His hands.  If you would like to give to this trip please make checks out to Glacier View Bible Church with a note that it is for the youth missions trip and mail them to:

Any bit helps!  If each person had 100 people give them $20 then the whole trip would be covered!  Or consider giving $50 and sponsoring a day for your student!

I am excited to see what God will do in the hearts of the people we come in contact with and in our own hearts as we are serving Him down there!  I know that often times you impact the locals you come in contact with and they learn about God's love through you, but I am even more excited to see the impact that a trip like this will have on our youth.  I learned so much about who God is and grew so much in my walk with Him through High School missions trips that I went on.  I am excited for our kids to get to experience this.

You can watch this blog over the next few months as we get ready to leave.  I am planning on having each of our students post a picture and write a bit about themselves so you can see them and know who you are praying for while we are there!  Then when we are down in Ecuador we will do our best to update with what we are doing (if we have internet).  Then we will be sure to post pictures are recap what we did when we get home!
